The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL: The Google Flagship

Google announced their smart phone. The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel 2 is aimed at all users. Having a great camera, performance, and a Google Assistant. Lets talk about Google flagships Pixel 2 and XL.

The design doesn’t look to far off from the first generation of Pixels. They both have a mostly-aluminum chassis, complete with a glass panel on the top of the device. The rear camera is larger this time too. Google also says the rear facing fingerprint sensor “unlocks faster than any other smartphone”. The Pixel device is now water resistant unlike the previous flagships. Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL comes with water- and dust resistance rating of IP67. Meaning the Pixels can survive in up to 1 meter of fresh water, up to 30 minutes at a time. One rumor that came to reality was that the Pixel 2 does not feature a 3.5 mm headphone jack anymore. You’ll need to rely on the USB Type-C port for wired headphones. Which means that you cant charge your phone and listen to music at the same time anymore. Which sucks.

The Pixel 2 and XL, The Differences:

The most notable difference is the front of the phone. The Pixel 2 has a 5.0 OLED 1920 x 1080 display. The Pixel 2 XL has a 6.0 inch, 2880 x 1440 P-OLED display. The Pixel 2 has a noticeable bezel on the top and bottom whereas the Pixel 2 XL has slim bezels around the screen. Also another difference is the battery. The Pixel 2 has a 2,700 mAh battery while the Pixel 2 XL has a 3,520 mAh battery. The price of the two is a big difference too.
While the 2 have differences they have their similarities too. Both devices have a octa-core 2.35 GHz Qualcomm snapdragon 835 mobile platform, an Adreno 430 GPU, and a 4 GB of RAM. Neither devices comes with a microSD card slot. Both phones come in 64 and 128 GB models.

Smart Always-On Display:

The Pixel will have a brand new and smarter Always-On Display. The Pixels display will continually listen to auto playing around you (you can turn it on and off in the settings) which allows it to show you song information without unlocking your phone and asking it manually. The Always-on display can use Google Assistant to bring up relevant information relating to the song.

The previous Pixel phone had a really great camera. With recent releases of smart phones like Apple, Google needed to step up their game. According to DxOMark, the Pixel 2 and XL is in a league of its own. The Pixels have a 1/2.6-inch 12.2 MP sensor and an f/1.8 aperture. The pixel 2 camera is going to be very to beat.
